The complete district-wise list has been notified through the Hallmarking of Gold Jewellery and Gold Artefacts (Third Amendment) Order, 2026 issued by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.

The order was issued in New Delhi on August 3, 2026, under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016, after consultation with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). It replaces the earlier annexure to the Hallmarking of Gold Jewellery and Gold Artefacts Order, 2020. The order comes into force from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
12 New Districts Added to Mandatory Gold Hallmarking List
The latest amendment expands mandatory gold hallmarking coverage from 380 to 392 districts, adding 12 districts across nine states. The newly included districts are:
- Assam: Kokrajhar and Lakhimpur
- Haryana: Panipat
- Madhya Pradesh: Bhind, Khandwa and Vidisha
- Maharashtra: Bhandara
- Odisha: Angul
- Rajasthan: Kotputli-Behror
- Tamil Nadu: Kancheepuram
- Uttarakhand: Udham Singh Nagar
- West Bengal: Jhargram
