Aksha Mohit Kamboj, IBJA: In a landmark moment for the India Bullion Jewellers Association (IBJA), Mrs. Aksha Mohit Kamboj has been appointed as its Vice President, effective June 22, 2024. This appointment marks the first time in IBJA’s 105-year history that a woman has held this prestigious position in the gold and jewellery sector. She will serve as Vice President for the next five years, until 2029. Mr. Prithviraj Kothari has been appointed as President of IBJA, and CA Surendra Mehta as National Secretary, both for the next five years.

Mrs. Kamboj, who is the Executive Chairman of Aspect Global and the owner of the Cricket ISPL team, Tigers of Kolkata, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her new role. Her appointment is expected to further strengthen IBJA’s leadership in the industry.

“Mrs. Aksha Mohit Kamboj has been an integral part of the bullion and jewellery sector, holding key positions that have contributed significantly to the industry’s growth and development,” said IBJA National Secretary Surendra Mehta in a statement. “Her dedication to promoting transparency, ethics, and best practices in the trade aligns perfectly with IBJA’s mission and vision.”

Her leadership is expected to navigate the evolving landscape of the bullion and jewellery sector, ensuring that IBJA continues to serve as the voice of the industry.

The India Bullion Jewellers Association, established 105 years ago, plays a vital role in policy-making for the gold industry. Its daily declared gold prices are used by the Ministry of Finance and the Reserve Bank of India for the issuance and redemption of Sovereign Gold Bonds and loans against gold jewellery by banks and NBFCs.
