IIJA Introduces Nominee Felicitation and AI Photo Scan

The evening concluded with all five Bollywood celebrities being felicitated on stage, followed by a grand photograph titled ‘The Stars Behind the Shine’. The networking dinner and dance floor then brought the inaugural celebration to its close.

What the Stars Said

“Gold and jewellery are part of every Indian celebration, and tonight it was wonderful to celebrate the people who create it. Opening the awards at the very first IIJA was a special honour.”

— Ameesha Patel

“Behind every piece of jewellery is a story of craft, family and hard work. It was a joy to give those stories the recognition they deserve.”

— Celina Jaitly

— Sangeeta Bijlani

“I have seen fashions change across generations, but the artistry of Indian jewellery has never gone out of style. It was a privilege to honour the people who keep it alive.”

— Meenakshi Seshadri

“Presenting the legacy awards and the Lifetime Achievement Award was the highlight of my evening. These are the names that built this industry — and it was a privilege to share their moment.”

— Arbaaz Khan

From the Organisers

“Tonight the Indian jewellery industry did not just hand out trophies — it celebrated itself. Manufacturers, retailers, designers and families who have shaped this trade for generations stood on one stage. This is the beginning of a new annual tradition.”

— Mr Prithviraj Kothari, National President, IBJA

“We wanted to create a night worthy of the industry it honours — glamour, emotion and real recognition, together. The response from the trade, our partners and our stars has been overwhelming.”

— Mr Kailash Singh, Managing Director, Tefla’s

“When the stars of Bollywood stand on the same stage as the craftsmen, manufacturers and retailers of India, you see what this industry truly is — the original glamour of our country. IIJA put that glamour back where it belongs: on the people who create it.”

IIJS Tritiya 2026: Exhibition
IIJS Tritiya 2026 will be hosted across Hall 3, Hall 4 and Hall 5 at BIEC, with organisers aiming to create a spacious and structured exhibition layout that allows visitors to move across jewellery collections, production technologies and business service segments without congestion. Running in parallel with IGJME Bharat – Tritiya 2026, the event reflects the increasing convergence between jewellery trade, manufacturing infrastructure and machinery solutions.

The scale of the event positions it as a major trade platform for the Indian gems and jewellery sector. The organisers expect participation from buyers across a broad domestic market as well as strong international representation, reinforcing IIJS Tritiya’s standing as a global sourcing and networking destination for the jewellery business.

A major feature of IIJS Tritiya 2026 is its technology-enabled visitor management system. Organisers have introduced digital-first solutions to improve convenience and streamline access for both attendees and exhibitors. These include pre-registration facilities, digital badges for entry, and facial recognition-enabled entry and exit systems aimed at making venue movement faster and more efficient.

International visitors will be offered complimentary registration facilities. In addition, the IIJS App will serve as a central digital companion throughout the event. The app will provide 3D interactive floor plans to help attendees navigate the venue, identify exhibitor locations and plan meetings efficiently. It will also offer real-time show updates, badge downloads, hotel booking assistance, daily newsletters and event announcements, creating a more integrated exhibition experience.

Beyond sourcing and product discovery, IIJS Tritiya 2026 will also place strong emphasis on business networking and industry knowledge exchange. The event will feature Networking Evening gatherings designed to help trade professionals build business relationships and explore collaborations. It will also host Innov8 Talks, where industry experts will discuss jewellery market trends, emerging technologies and broader business insights relevant to the sector.

Premium attendees will have access to the Prime Plus Lounge, which will provide refreshments, high-speed Wi-Fi and a dedicated space for meetings and networking. Meanwhile, The Select Club will return for its second edition at IIJS Tritiya 2026 in Hall 3 after its successful debut. This curated section is intended specifically for luxury buyers and premium retailers and will showcase leading jewellery brands recognised for exceptional craftsmanship, rare gemstones and bespoke high-end jewellery creations. The segment is designed to offer a focused luxury sourcing experience for elite buyers and collectors.

Mega Lucky Draw: Prize Structure and Participation Rules
The Mega Lucky Draw has been positioned as a special engagement initiative to encourage movement and interaction across multiple exhibition halls. Only paid registered gem and jewellery trade buyers attending IIJS Bharat – Tritiya 2026 in Bengaluru are eligible to participate, provided they complete the official Lucky Draw Passport process during the exhibition.

All winners will be selected during the live draw event at the venue.

To participate, eligible visitors must collect a physical Lucky Draw Passport from the designated Collection Centre during official show hours.
Organisers have specified that stamps must be placed only in the correct numbered boxes within the passport, and each stamp must be the official and unique stamp of the respective exhibitor. Only one passport will be issued per visitor. Participants have also been advised to keep the passport secure, as lost or damaged passports will not be the responsibility of the organisers.

Once the required stamps have been collected, the completed passport must be submitted at the Lucky Draw Validation Desk located in Hall 3. The submission window will open on 22 March 2026 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and continue on 23 March 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Organisers have made it clear that passports submitted after 12:00 PM on 23 March 2026 will not be accepted under any circumstances.

All validated entries will be included in the Mega Lucky Draw, which will be conducted live on 23 March 2026 at 2:00 PM at the exhibition venue in Bengaluru. Winners will be announced during the live event. Prize winners will be required to submit statutory documents, including PAN and other KYC details, in order to meet tax and regulatory compliance requirements before claiming their prizes.

Who can Participate?
The Mega Lucky Draw is restricted to genuine trade buyers and excludes several categories from participation. Those not eligible include exhibitors, their staff and partners, students, employees of the organisers including GJEPC and its affiliates and their immediate family members, contracted service providers and event agency staff, as well as complimentary badge holders such as media representatives and hosted guests.

This eligibility framework has been designed to ensure that the lucky draw remains focused on trade buyers who are actively attending the exhibition and engaging with exhibitors across Hall 3, Hall 4 and Hall 5.

With over 1,100 exhibitors, more than 1,900 stalls, 60,000+ square metres of exhibition area, over 15,000 expected trade visitors, representation from 500+ Indian cities and participation from 40+ countries, IIJS Tritiya 2026 is shaping up to be one of the most significant jewellery trade gatherings in the country.

Supported by digital services, premium networking zones, knowledge sessions, machinery integration through IGJME Bharat – Tritiya 2026, and a high-value Mega Lucky Draw, the exhibition is expected to play an important role in driving sourcing activity, industry engagement and new business opportunities across the gems and jewellery sector.

India’s gem and jewellery exporters are facing mounting operational hurdles — from export documents not reflecting in RBI systems to payment mismatches in exhibition shipments. In a recent meeting with the Reserve Bank of India, GJEPC urged authorities to resolve these bottlenecks, warning that system glitches could impact India’s position as the world’s eighth-largest gem and jewellery exporter.

In a recent meeting with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) on 27th Feb, 2026, flagged several operational and regulatory hurdles that India’s gem and jewellery importers and exporters face. Some hurdles, like export documents not reflecting in RBI monitoring systems to payment mismatches, and exhibition shipment complications, could make it difficult for exporters to conduct business smoothly.

The concerns carry significant weight, as India is the eighth-largest gem and jewellery exporter globally, with exports accounting for around 3.2% of world trade, and the country holds a dominant position in segments like cut and polished diamonds. With such a strong global footprint, industry leaders stressed that resolving these system-level bottlenecks is crucial to maintaining India’s competitiveness in international markets.

For Expert Views on Gold and Silver Prices, Watch Our YouTube Channel- (1.8 Lakh Subscribers, 30 Million Views)

SOME OF THE HURDLES OF JEWELLERY EXPORT TALKED ABOUT IN THE MEETING

Shipping Bills Not Showing Up in the System
When jewellers export goods, they file a document called a Shipping Bill. Think of it as proof that the jewellery has left India legally.

However, many exporters reported that their Shipping Bills are not reflected in the Export Data Processing and Monitoring System (EDPMS) — the RBI’s system that tracks export payments.

It is a major problem because:

If the system doesn’t show the export, banks may assume payment hasn’t been received.

Exporters can face compliance notices.

Future shipments may get delayed.

Working capital gets blocked.

In simple words, Jewellers export the goods, but the system doesn’t recognize it properly — and that creates paperwork headaches and financial stress.

Over 500 Manual Import Records Missing
Exporters also import raw materials like gold, diamonds, and gemstones. These imports are recorded through Bills of Entry.

But more than 500 manual Bills of Entry and hand-carry shipment documents are not appearing in the Import Data Processing and Monitoring System (IDPMS).

In simple words:

The system shows imports as “pending” even when they are completed.

Banks may question transactions.

Exporters struggle to reconcile accounts.

Regulatory compliance becomes difficult.

It is akin to a situation where you are maintaining your bank statement, but half your deposits don’t show up. That’s the kind of confusion exporters are facing.

Problems with Exhibition Exports
Jewellers often send jewellery abroad for exhibitions. They display items, sell some, and bring back the rest. It is a process which sounds simple in theory, but is fairly complicated financially.

Over-realisation or under-realisation of remittances:
If the final payment doesn’t exactly match the original declared value, it creates regulatory complications.

Advance remittances:
Managing advance payments for exhibition shipments is difficult under the current rules.

Third-party remittances:
Sometimes payment comes from a different entity than the buyer. Exporters need clarity on whether that’s acceptable.

In simple terms, if the rules are unclear or systems dont sync, exporters risk penalties, even if the sale is genuine.

WHAT DID GJEPC DO?
At the meeting with the Reserve Bank of India:

GJEPC submitted a detailed representation outlining these concerns.

RBI officials acknowledged the operational bottlenecks.

Authorities assured that the issues would be reviewed on priority.

Senior officials from CBIC, ICEGATE, Customs, and Authorised Dealer (AD) banks were present, allowing direct dialogue between regulators and industry stakeholders.

The RBI also highlighted recent reforms aimed at streamlining online declaration processes — indicating that improvements are underway.

The jewellery export industry isn’t asking for relaxation of rules.

They are asking for:

Better system integration

Faster digital updates

Clearer guidelines

Practical solutions for exhibition exports

In short, they want systems that match the speed and complexity of global trade.

FAQs
1. What issues did GJEPC raise with the RBI?
GJEPC highlighted problems such as Shipping Bills not appearing in the Export Data Processing and Monitoring System (EDPMS), missing Bills of Entry in IDPMS, remittance mismatches in exhibition exports, and lack of clarity on third-party payments.

2. Why are missing Shipping Bills a serious problem?
If export documents don’t reflect in RBI systems, banks may treat payments as pending, which can lead to compliance issues, delayed clearances, and blocked working capital for exporters.

3. What are the exhibition export challenges?
When jewellers send goods abroad for exhibitions, final payments often differ from initial declarations. This creates regulatory confusion regarding over- or under-realisation of export proceeds and advance remittances.

4. How does this affect India’s global trade position?
India is the eighth-largest gem and jewellery exporter globally. Operational bottlenecks can reduce efficiency, increase costs, and affect competitiveness in international markets.

5. What was RBI’s response?
RBI officials acknowledged the concerns raised by GJEPC and assured that the issues would be reviewed on priority for early resolution.

India is witnessing a sharp surge in gold loan, with outstanding gold loans rising 128% year-on-year to cross ₹4 lakh crore for the first time. This rapid expansion—driven by a 152% rise in gold prices over two years and tighter RBI loan classification norms—has made gold loans one of the fastest-growing segments in retail credit. Gold loans alone accounted for about 9% of incremental bank credit, significantly contributing to the 14.4% growth in overall non-food bank lending. The trend reflects how Indian households are increasingly leveraging their physical gold holdings as collateral for formal credit, even as industrial borrowing remains relatively subdued compared to consumer-driven lending growth.

For Expert Views on Gold and Silver Prices, Watch Our YouTube Channel- (1.8 Lakh Subscribers, 30 Million Views)

WHAT LED TO SUCH A SURGE IN GOLD LOANS?
Two major factors have driven this expansion. First, domestic gold prices have surged roughly 152% over the past two years, substantially boosting the collateral value of household gold holdings. Higher valuations have enabled borrowers to access larger loan amounts against the same physical assets.

Second, regulatory guidance requiring banks to classify loans secured by gold explicitly as gold loans has improved reporting transparency and accelerated balance-sheet recognition in the segment. This reclassification has sharpened visibility into the scale of gold-backed lending across the banking system.

The data also signals a broader structural shift in India’s credit cycle. Personal loans now account for 34.5% of total bank lending, reflecting the growing dominance of consumer-driven credit expansion. Since March 21, 2025, banks have added ₹21.8 lakh crore to their non-food loan books, translating into 12% growth for the financial year to date.

While loans to micro, small and medium enterprises continue to grow steadily, borrowing by large corporations remains relatively muted. Industrial credit has been uneven, contrasting with the strong momentum seen in retail and gold-backed lending.

The trend underscores a distinctive feature of India’s financial ecosystem—households’ vast stock of physical gold, traditionally viewed as a store of wealth, is increasingly being mobilised as collateral for formal banking credit.

In the current credit cycle, it is not factories or infrastructure projects leading the charge, but gold jewellery locked in household vaults. As elevated gold prices and supportive regulatory clarity persist, gold-backed lending is emerging as one of the most dynamic engines of India’s banking growth story.

GOLD LOANS: FAQs
1. How much have gold loans grown recently?
Outstanding gold-backed loans rose 128% year-on-year to ₹4,00,517 crore as of January 31, marking a record high.

2. What is driving the surge in gold loans?
Two key factors: a 152% rise in gold prices over two years, increasing collateral value, and stricter regulatory classification norms that improved reporting transparency.

3. How much have gold loans contributed to overall credit growth?
Gold loans accounted for roughly 9% of incremental bank credit and helped push non-food bank credit growth to 14.4% year-on-year.

4. How significant are personal loans in overall bank lending?
Personal loans now make up 34.5% of total bank lending, highlighting a consumer-driven credit expansion trend.

5. What does this trend indicate about India’s financial system?
It shows that Indian households are increasingly leveraging their physical gold holdings as collateral, shifting gold from a passive store of wealth to an active credit instrument.

India Ratings and Research (Ind-Ra) has revised the retail jewellery sector’s outlook to neutral for FY27 while sharply raising its FY26 revenue growth estimate to 23% year-on-year, driven largely by record-high gold prices. Despite expectations of a steep drop in jewellery volumes due to elevated prices, organised jewellers are projected to outperform unorganised players, supported by festive demand, asset-light expansion, steady profitability, and stronger credit profiles. However, higher gold prices are expected to keep working capital requirements elevated through FY26 and FY27.

India Rating & Research (Ind-Ra) had officially changed its Jewellery Sector outlook for 2027, and 2026. According to India Rating & Research’s report, they believe that India’s retail jewellery sector is expected to remain resilient despite record-high gold prices and geopolitical uncertainties. The agency has revised its outlook to neutral for FY27 from improving. The agency has also raised its FY26 revenue growth estimate by 600 basis points to 23% year-on-year, largely driven by elevated gold prices, while projecting high-teens growth in FY27 on a high base.

According to the report, they believe that jewellery volumes may witness a sharp decline due to the high price of gold. Organised jewellers are expected to continue outperforming the broader retail sector, supported by strong festive demand, asset-light expansion, and better credit fundamentals.

For Expert Views on Gold and Silver Prices, Watch Our Youtube Channel- (1.77 Lakh Subscribers, 30 Million Views)

JEWELLERY SECTOR OUTLOOK
Ind-Ra’s revision to a neutral outlook reflects the sector’s ability to withstand shocks such as geopolitical tensions, trade disruptions, and demand pressures witnessed in FY26. According to the agency, organised jewellers have demonstrated strong adaptability in a volatile pricing environment.

The rating agency maintained a Stable outlook for its gold retail jewellery portfolio for FY27. Between December 2024 and December 2025:

74% of rated entities saw their ratings affirmed

15% were upgraded

10% were fresh rating assignments

Only 2% faced downgrades

The upgrades were largely supported by steady same-store sales growth, prudent expansion through lease or franchise-led asset-light models, and diversification into newer markets.

Ind-Ra expects organised jewellers’ revenues to surge 23% YoY in FY26, mainly driven by the sharp rally in gold prices. However, growth is expected to moderate to high-teen levels in FY27 due to a high base effect.

Over FY26–FY28, organised jewellers are projected to grow at a 17% CAGR, significantly faster than the 7% CAGR expected for unorganised players. The agency believes trust, transparency, and regulatory compliance will continue to give organised retailers a competitive edge.

JEWELLERY SECTOR OUTLOOK: INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITY
Jewellery volumes are expected to drop sharply in FY26 — potentially the steepest decline seen since the pandemic — as high gold prices dampen affordability. However, strong buying during the festive and wedding seasons in the second half of FY26 has improved overall revenue expectations.

Industry players are reshaping consumer behaviour to accept elevated gold prices as the “new normal” by:

Increasing the share of studded jewellery

Promoting lower-purity gold (9k, 14k, 18k)

Offering lightweight and ultra-light designs for mass consumers

This shift is aimed at accelerating inventory turnover and maintaining demand momentum despite high prices.

Ind-Ra expects the credit profile of organised jewellers to strengthen in FY27, supported by:

Increasing store scale and contribution from new outlets

Rising EBITDA to absorb higher interest costs

Continued preference for asset-light expansion

While borrowings may remain high due to elevated inventory requirements, net leverage is expected to stay below FY25 levels. Interest coverage ratios are also projected to improve marginally.

However, free cash flow deficits are likely to persist in FY26 and FY27, as the ongoing gold price rally increases working capital needs. Funding availability remains critical, even though higher inventory valuations provide potential room for working capital limit enhancements.

With gold delivering exceptional returns compared to other asset classes, investment demand is expected to remain steady. In a volatile pricing environment, most jewellers are likely to continue hedging through daily or weekly replenishment models to average out procurement costs.

Ind-Ra believes that overall revenue growth will remain intact, as price gains offset volume declines and volume growth compensates during periods of price correction.

Overall, while record-high gold prices pose short-term challenges to volumes and liquidity, the organised retail jewellery sector appears structurally well-positioned to sustain growth and improve its credit profile through FY27.

JEWELLERY SECTOR OUTLOOK: FAQs
1. Why did India Ratings revise the jewellery sector outlook to neutral for FY27?
The outlook was revised to neutral as the sector has shown strong resilience against geopolitical tensions, trade disruptions, and demand pressures, positioning it as a stable outperformer within the retail segment.

2. What is the revised revenue growth forecast for FY26?
India Ratings has increased its FY26 revenue growth estimate by 600 basis points to 23% year-on-year, mainly due to the sharp rise in gold prices.

3. Will jewellery demand decline despite higher revenues?
Yes, jewellery volumes are expected to decline sharply in FY26 because of high gold prices. However, higher prices are likely to offset volume weakness, keeping overall revenue growth strong.

4. How are organised jewellers expected to perform compared to unorganised players?
Organised jewellers are projected to grow at a 17% CAGR over FY26–FY28, significantly faster than the 7% growth expected for unorganised players, supported by trust, regulatory compliance, and better access to funding.

5. What are the key financial risks facing jewellers in FY26 and FY27?
The main risk is elevated working capital requirements due to high gold prices, which may lead to higher borrowings and continued free cash flow deficits, even though profitability and interest coverage are expected to improve.

IAGES: India’s gold industry is moving toward adopting the highest benchmarks in ethical and responsible business practices, as a growing number of gold entities secure accreditation from the Indian Association for Gold Excellence and Standards (IAGES). Among the latest additions to this expanding pan-India network of verified gold retailers is the prominent legacy brand PNG Jewellers (PN Gadgil Jewellers Ltd), which has successfully obtained IAGES accreditation.

WHAT IS IAGES?

IAGES functions as a Self-Regulatory Organisation created by and for the Indian gold industry to standardise the entire gold value chain. It caters to proprietors engaged in gold refining, bullion trading, manufacturing, assaying and hallmarking, retailing, and digital gold selling.

For Expert Views on Gold and Silver Prices Watch Our Youtube Channel- (1.77 Lakh Subscribers, 30 Million Views)

PNG JEWELLERS AND IAGES

With a legacy of more than 194 years, PNG Jewellers is counted among India’s oldest and most esteemed jewellery brands, widely recognised for its trust, excellence, and craftsmanship. Building upon its already stringent internal systems, PNG Jewellers has now secured IAGES accreditation after undergoing a comprehensive evaluation and verification process conducted by an independent third-party assessor.

“Each decade, we aim to better governance, process integrity and responsible sourcing practices across our operations, while meeting changing consumer expectations. The IAGES accreditation verifies and reinforces our highest internal standards for the benefit of our consumers. All registered gold entities in India should work towards accreditation so that the industry can be united in building long-term credibility and trust with customers,” said Dr. Saurabh Gadgil, Chairman & Managing Director, PNG Jewellers.

Welcoming the move, Kaushlendra Sinha, CEO, IAGES said, “We welcome PNG Jewellers to the IAGES network. Their long-standing legacy and reputation gets a further boost with this accreditation, adding another layer of trust and confidence amongst buyers. In a country where gold has been bought by generations across the strata of society to celebrate different emotions, a consumer-friendly framework has always been amiss. IAGES fills in that gap.”

With an increasing number of jewellery brands aligning themselves with the IAGES framework, the Indian gold industry is advancing further toward formalisation and enhanced sector-wide credibility. IAGES is presently conducting a nationwide consumer awareness initiative under the banner #PehlaCheckIAGES, encouraging consumers to verify IAGES accreditation before selecting their gold retailer.

IAGES FAQs

GCC Import Guide: India’s $8 billion gems and jewellery exports to the GCC—accounting for nearly 27% of global shipments in FY 2024–25—are set to benefit from a new GCC Customs Guide released by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC). Covering import procedures across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain and Kuwait, the guide outlines duty structures, VAT regimes, hallmarking norms, Kimberley Process and CITES compliance, temporary import provisions and clearance timelines. With GCC nations broadly following a 5% import duty framework—alongside country-specific VAT and regulatory requirements—the handbook aims to help exporters reduce customs delays, lower compliance costs and plan shipments more efficiently.

GCC Customs Guide: In a major step to strengthen India’s gems and jewellery trade with the Gulf, the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) has released a comprehensive GCC Customs Guide covering import procedures across six key Gulf markets. The GCC continues to be one of India’s most important export destinations for gems and jewellery. In FY 2024–25, exports to the region stood at approximately $8 billion, accounting for nearly 27% of India’s global shipments from the sector.

The release of the guide comes at a time when exporters are increasingly targeting the Gulf region for growth, supported by strong consumer demand, re-export opportunities, and strategic trade agreements.

With the GCC accounting for over a quarter of India’s global gems and jewellery exports, the release of the GCC Customs Guide comes at a strategically important time for the industry. By consolidating critical information on duties, VAT structures, compliance norms and clearance procedures into a single reference document, GJEPC has equipped exporters with a practical tool to navigate regulatory complexities with greater confidence.

FAQs

1. What is the standard import duty on gems and jewellery in GCC countries?

Most GCC countries broadly follow a 5% import duty regime on gems and jewellery. However, the exact duty may vary depending on the HS code, product category (bullion vs jewellery), and applicable trade agreements.

2. Are there VAT differences across GCC markets?

Yes. VAT rates differ by country:

UAE – 5%

Saudi Arabia – 15%

Oman – 5%

Bahrain – 10%

Qatar – No VAT currently

Kuwait – No VAT currently

Exporters must factor in these variations while calculating landed costs.

3. Are there any duty concessions available for Indian exporters?

Yes. Under the India-UAE CEPA, eligible exports to the UAE may qualify for 0% duty, subject to proper Certificate of Origin (COO). Oman also offers concessional or zero-duty access under applicable Free Trade Agreements, provided origin documentation is correctly submitted.

4. Is hallmarking mandatory in GCC countries?

Yes. All GCC countries require assay and hallmarking of precious metals before retail sale. Jewellery must meet declared purity standards (for example, 18K or above in Saudi Arabia), and inspection is carried out by accredited authorities in each country.

5. What special compliance requirements apply to diamonds and restricted materials?

Rough diamonds must comply with the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS).
