इंडियन बुलियन एंड ज्वेलर्स एसोसिएशन (IBJA) ने BIS के इस कदम का स्वागत करते हुए कहा कि यह उनका अनुरोध था जिसे अब मंजूरी मिल गई है। IBJA के बयान के अनुसार,
“BIS ने 9 कैरेट को हॉलमार्किंग में शामिल करने का हमारा अनुरोध स्वीकार किया है। BIS ने अब IS 1417:2016 में संशोधन कर 9 कैरेट को अधिकृत किया है। हम BIS के साथ 9K हॉलमार्किंग को BIS मानक पोर्टल (Manak) में जल्द शामिल करने के लिए समन्वय कर रहे हैं ताकि ज्वेलर्स तुरंत इसका उपयोग कर सकें।”

GJC ने दी विस्तृत जानकारी

ऑल इंडिया जेम एंड ज्वेलरी डोमेस्टिक काउंसिल (GJC) ने BIS के संशोधन का हवाला देते हुए अपने सदस्यों को सूचित किया कि 9 कैरेट (375 ppt) अब अनिवार्य हॉलमार्किंग के तहत शामिल कर लिया गया है।
“BIS संशोधन संख्या 2 (जुलाई 2025) के अनुसार अब 9 कैरेट (375 ppt) को अनिवार्य हॉलमार्किंग के तहत शामिल कर लिया गया है। सभी ज्वेलर्स और हॉलमार्किंग सेंटर्स को इस नए नियम का पालन करना होगा।”

भारत में हॉलमार्किंग का बढ़ता दायरा

भारत दुनिया का सबसे बड़ा सोने का उपभोक्ता देश है, जहां सालाना 700 से 1000 टन तक सोने की खपत होती है। BIS द्वारा दी गई जानकारी के अनुसार, देश में अब तक 40 करोड़ से ज्यादा सोने की ज्वेलरी आइटम्स हॉलमार्क की जा चुकी हैं। पंजीकृत ज्वेलर्स की संख्या 2019 में 34,647 थी जो अब बढ़कर 1,94,039 हो चुकी है, वहीं हॉलमार्किंग सेंटर्स की संख्या 945 से बढ़कर 1,622 हो गई है।

सरकार ने चरणबद्ध तरीके से हॉलमार्किंग को अनिवार्य किया है। वर्तमान में यह प्रक्रिया अपने चौथे चरण में है, जिसमें 343 नए जिलों को भी शामिल किया गया है।

BIS CARE ऐप से मिलेगी हर जानकारी

BIS उपभोक्ताओं को ‘BIS CARE’ मोबाइल ऐप के माध्यम से हॉलमार्क ज्वेलरी की सत्यता जांचने की सुविधा देता है। उपभोक्ता इस ऐप के माध्यम से किसी भी ज्वेलरी पर लगे हॉलमार्क नंबर को स्कैन करके उस ज्वेलर का पंजीकरण, हॉलमार्किंग केंद्र, शुद्धता, परीक्षण की तारीख जैसी जानकारी प्राप्त कर सकते हैं।

इस ऐप के जरिए उपभोक्ता किसी उत्पाद में गड़बड़ी या BIS मार्क के दुरुपयोग की शिकायत भी सीधे दर्ज कर सकते हैं, जिससे उपभोक्ता अधिकारों को और मजबूती मिलती है।

This five-week-long extravaganza is designed to promote India’s rich art heritage and cultural diversity by showcasing and auctioning the finest jewellery pieces. Simultaneously, it aims to support the industry by driving sales and engaging in CSR activities.

Mr. Dinesh Jain, GJC Director & IJSF Convenor, expressed the objectives of IJSF, stating, “Our aim with IJSF is to develop jewellery tourism in India, positioning the country as a leading jewellery hub. Similar to the Dubai Festival, which garners international attention, IJSF endeavors to enhance the credibility of Indian jewellers while educating consumers about the latest innovations in the industry.”

Highlighting the immense scope within the jewellery manufacturing sector, which involves only around 10% of countries worldwide, Mr. Jain emphasized the government’s role in promoting jewellery tourism. Collaborations with the Tourism Ministry and travel agents will incentivize touring packages, and discussions regarding import duty and GST refunds for tourists are already underway.

This fully digitalized initiative is poised to generate sales worth 12,000 crores during the B2C phase, involving over 2.4 million consumers. The festival anticipates foreign currency revenue of Rs 3,000 crore. With a strategic plan in place, GJC aims to allocate 40% of the revenue towards promoting the initiative while incentivizing consumers with 38% of the receipts. The entire jewellery value chain is projected to contribute over 100 Cr to this transformative endeavor.

Mr. Saiyam Mehra, Chairman of GJC, highlighted the unique opportunity presented by IJSF, stating, “We offer jewellers and participants across the value chain an unparalleled platform featuring a vast array of innovative and exquisite designs for regular and occasion wear. At IJSF, jewellers can attract customers, boosting their sales, while consumers can indulge in never-before-seen designs and secure their pieces for weddings and special occasions. This festival holds immense potential for the entire jewellery fraternity, with major industry players already expressing interest. We expect the entire value chain to unite, generating significant revenue and promoting the industry while incentivizing consumers. Our focus is on credible jewellers with a formal business model, encouraging them to adopt the best practices.”

Mr. Manoj Jha, IJSF Joint Convenor, announced the launch of various schemes to increase participation, including a bumper prize featuring five 1kg gold prizes and over 1000 periodic prizes of 25 grams of gold each. Additionally, every coupon will be accompanied by an assured limited edition coin. GJC aims to incentivize consumers by gifting approximately 35 Cr worth of gold, silver, and diamond-studded jewellery across all categories during IJSF. Consumers will receive one coupon for every purchase of Rs 25,000 or more.

In a bid to promote digital India and cater to the evolving preferences of Gen-Z, the India Jewellery Shopping Festival (IJSF) is revolutionizing the industry with its digitally driven and transparent approach. With Gen-Z constituting approximately 65% of India’s population, understanding their behavioral changes becomes crucial. Gen-Z individuals will have the opportunity to share their experiences of using different jewellery for various occasions, fostering an asset-creating mindset rather than considering it as an expense-creating endeavor.

To ensure transparency and clarity, all the applicable Terms and Conditions of IJSF will be prominently displayed on the festival’s website, providing participants and consumers with essential information.

The IJSF held its inaugural roadshow in Ahmedabad, where over 150 jewellers attended and gave an overwhelmingly positive response. During the event, Mr. Rajesh Rokde, Vice Chairman, and Mr. Dinesh Jain, COA-GJC & IJSF Convener, shared information on key industry issues and the GJS – India Gem & Jewelry Show.

Several trade dignitaries from the jewellery industry, including Zaverikaka, Nanubhai, Vipulbhai, Shantibhai, Manoj bhai, and Jigar Soni Ji, President of JAA (Jewellers Association Ahmedabad), were also present.

Another roadshow was held in Rajkot on 26th April 2023, which received an overwhelming response from over 150 jewellers in attendance. During the event, Mr. Rajesh Rokde, Vice Chairman, and Mr. Dinesh Jain, Director-GJC & IJSF Convener, shared information on key industry issues. The roadshow was attended by jewellers from various regions, including Jamnagar, Morbi, and Junagadh.

Senco Gold Limited, one of the leading jewellery brands, has registered with IJSF for 60 stores, which is the biggest registration for the festival. They have assured their full support and guidance for the India Jewellery Shopping Festival 2023.

GJS 2023 में महाराष्ट्र विधानसभा के अध्यक्ष राहुल नार्वेकर मुख्य अतिथी के तौर पर शामिल हुए और उन्होंने जेम एंड ज्वेलरी शो की शुरूआत की।
