IIJS Premiere 2024 Kicks Off: Exclusive Couture Jewellery, Young Talent Recognition, and Cultural Celebrations Under ‘Brilliant Bharat’ Theme

IIJS Premiere 2024: The India International Jewellery Show (IIJS) Premiere 2024 was inaugurated by Maharashtra’s Governor Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, State Minister Shri Mangal Prabhat Lodha, and GJEPC’s brand ambassador, Manushi Chhillar.

For the next three years, the IIJS shows will celebrate India’s rich cultural heritage under the theme “Brilliant Bharat,” with a special focus on ‘Textiles’ this year. The event is set to run from August 8-12 at the JIO World Convention Centre and from August 9-13 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, NESCO Goregaon, Mumbai.

Highlights of the event include The Select Club, an exclusive high-end couture jewellery section, and the IIJS Celebration Night, which will honor legends of India’s gem and jewellery industry. Additionally, GJEPC’s “Forty Under 40” initiative will recognize young talent, while Innov8 Talks and Launch Pad will offer interactive seminars and product launches.

The IIJS Premiere 2024, recognized as one of the largest B2B gem and jewellery shows globally, was officially opened by the Hon. Governor of Maharashtra, Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan, at the JIO World Convention Centre in Mumbai. Organized by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), the event was also attended by Shri Mangal Prabhat Lodha, the Hon. Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of Maharashtra.

Key figures in the industry, including Shri Vipul Shah, Chairman of GJEPC; Shri Kirit Bhansali, Vice Chairman of GJEPC; and Shri Nirav Bhansali, Convener of National Exhibitions for GJEPC, warmly welcomed distinguished guests such as Mr. Paul Rowley, Executive Vice President of Diamond Trading at De Beers Group; Shri Paul Alukka, MD of Jos Alukkas; and Shri Dilip Gaur, Business Director of Novel Jewels at Aditya Birla Group.

Adding an extra sparkle to the event, GJEPC’s brand ambassador and former Miss World, Manushi Chhillar, emphasized the event’s significance.

Under the theme “Brilliant Bharat,” IIJS Premiere 2024 will take place from August 8-12 at the JIO World Convention Centre, Mumbai, and from August 9-13 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, NESCO Goregaon, Mumbai. Spanning an exhibition area of 135,000 square meters (1.45 million square feet), the show will feature over 3,600 stalls and 2,100 exhibitors. The event is expected to draw over 50,000 buyers from India and more than 2,000 buyers from 60 countries.

This year’s standout feature is “The Select Club,” an exclusive high-end couture jewellery section that showcases the refined designs and innovative craftsmanship of 101 exhibitors. This elite section is located in the Jasmine Hall on the 3rd floor of the JIO World Convention Centre.

Praising the event, Hon. Governor of Maharashtra Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan remarked, “GJEPC’s IIJS is one of the most prestigious B2B gem & jewellery shows in the world and the day will come when it will be the largest in the entire world. I congratulate GJEPC’s most efficient team for making IIJS larger and better with each passing year. If GJEPC’s member gem and jewellery exporters can sell to Indian women, then they can sell to anyone in the world. I urge GJEPC to continue to showcase and highlight Brand India across the world; and through this endeavor, take India’s rich culture and heritage to the world.”

Shri Mangal Prabhat Lodha stressed the importance of preparing the diamond industry for the future, stating, “The diamond industry should think of future generation and collaborate to induct them into business and enhance job creation. Diamond industry should adopt youngsters and develop their skills to make them employable.”

GJEPC Chairman, Mr. Vipul Shah, highlighted the scope of this year’s event: “This year, IIJS Premiere proudly hosts over 2,100 exhibitors and more than 3,600 stalls, and we are expecting over 50,000 trade visitors from India and 60 plus countries. There are 15 International delegations from 13+ countries including Cambodia, Iran, Japan, Malaysia, Nepal, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom, and Uzbekistan. The recent Union Budget 2024 has been transformative for our industry and the Government’s policy imperatives will firmly establish India as a global rough diamond trading hub, generating employment and contributing to India’s vision of becoming a Viksit Bharat by 2047.”

With initiatives like Innov8 Talks and the 40 Under 40 platform, which identifies and celebrates young industry leaders, the event continues to shape the future of India’s gem and jewellery sector. The Brilliant Bharat theme, inspired by the number 9, will showcase nine meticulously curated exhibitions over the coming years, each representing a distinct aspect of Indian heritage, solidifying India’s global prominence in the industry.
