Hallmarking Charge gold Jewellery, Hallmarking Fees Silver 2022, New Hallmarking Charges 2022: The government has drastically increased the hallmarking charges of gold and silver jewellery. Till now, the hallmarking of gold jewelery was being charged at Rs 35 per article of jewellery. On the other hand, the hallmarking charge on silver jewellery was Rs 25 per article. Now this charge has been increased.
According to Govt notification Hallmarking fee for gold articles payable to recognized Assaying and Hallmarking Centers by jewellers shall be Rs. 45/- per article and minimum fee for a consignment as Rs. 200/. Hallmarking Fee for silver articles payable to recognized Assaying and Hallmarking Centers by jewellers shall be Rs. 35/- per article and minimum fee for a consignment as Rs. 150/.
The New rules called Bureau of Indian Standards (Hallmarking) Amendment Regulations, 2022. New Charges shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. For New Hallmarking Charges a gadget notification has been issued on 4 March 2022, Friday.
According to the notification of the government, now the hallmarking charge of gold jewellery will be Rs 45 per jewel. Earlier this charge was Rs 35. Similarly, the hallmarking charge of silver jewellery has been increased from Rs 25 to Rs 35. The government has made Amendment in the Bureau of Indian Standards (Hallmarking Regulation) for this.

The hallmarking charge of gold has been increased by 28.5 percent. At the same time, the hallmarking charge of silver has been increased by 40 percent.
Notification said applicable taxes as per prevalent rates shall be levied in addition to the above. This means in this charge, 3% GST will be added separately. Meaning Rs 1.34 more will be added to this charge. After this, the hallmarking charge of gold jewellery will be Rs 46.34. The fee of Rs 200 for per consignment will continue to be charged as before.

Similarly, the hallmarking charge of silver jewellery has been increased from Rs 25 to Rs 35. In this also 3% GST will be added. That means Rs 1.05 will be taxed on hallmarking of silver jewellery. In this way, now a charge of Rs 36.05 will have to be paid for hallmarking of silver jewellery. For per consignment, Rs 150 will have to be paid as before.
According to Notification the hallmarking fee to be levied by the Bureau from Assaying and Hallmarking Centre for gold articles shall be Rs. 4.50/- per article and minimum fee for a consignment as Rs. 20/-. The hallmarking fee to be levied by the Bureau from Assaying and Hallmarking Centre for silver articles shall be Rs. 3.50/- per article and Minimum fee for a consignment Rs. 15.
