Manoj Jain, Director of Commodity and Currency in Prithvi Finmart says gold and silver shows some more short covering and bargain buying at lower levels after downbeat U.S. ISM manufacturing PMI data. The U.S. ISM manufacturing index remained in contraction territory in February, rising to 47.7%, up slightly from January’s reading of 44.7%.

The report noted that activity in the manufacturing sector remains at its lowest level since May 2020. Reading below 50 indicates slower growth of the economy. Gold and silver prices also supported by a weaker dollar index. The dollar index shows profit taking after strength in Chinese Yuan. However, strength in the U.S. 10-year bond yields restricted gains of precious metals. The U.S. 10-year bond yield tested 4.0% amid anticipation of further Fed rate hikes.
Manoj Jain expect gold and silver prices to remain volatile in today’s session ahead of the European CPI data and U.S. unemployment claim number. Gold could face resistance around $1858 and silver could face resistance around $21.60 in today’s session. Gold has support at $1834-1822, while resistance at $1858-1870 per troy ounce. Silver has support at $20.84-20.55, while resistance is at $21.40-21.64 per troy ounce.
Jain said MCX, gold is having support at 55660-55500 and resistance at 55950-56080 while silver is having support at 64000-63550 and resistance at 64900-65350. He suggest buying silver on dips around 64000 with a stop loss of 63400 for the target of 65200.
