Gold and silver plunged after ECB gave signals for raising interest rates from July and strength in the dollar index. Both precious metals were settled on a weaker note in the international markets.
Gold and silver plunged on Thursday after ECB monetary policy meetings. The ECB left its interest rates unchanged but gave signals for raising interest rates from July meetings and followed in September to control inflation. The dollar index showed strength after the ECB press conference and crossed 103 marks again.

Benchmark 10-year bond yields are also hovering above 3.0% and restricting gains of the precious metals. Gold and silver found support at lower levels after unemployment claims in the United States surged to four week highs at 2,29,000 against expectation of 2,05,000 in the last week. The U.S. equity markets also plunged and supported both precious metals at lower levels.
According to Manoj Jain, Director of Commodity and Currency in Prithvi Finmart says gold and silver to remain volatile in today’s session ahead of the U.S. inflation data. He expect gold could hold $1834 per troy ounce and silver could also hold $21.50 per troy ounce levels.

Jain said gold is having support at $1845-1834 per troy ounce and resistance at $1860-1872 per troy ounce while silver is having support at $21.55-21.30 per troy ounce and resistance at $22.10-22.40 per troy ounce.
Jain said at MCX, gold is having support at 50880-50700 and resistance at 51150-51300 while silver is having support at 61000-60440 and resistance at 61850-62220. We suggest buying gold on dips around 50850 with a stop loss of 50680 for the target of 51150.
