The culmination of months of anticipation and creative exploration, the 7th edition of The Artisan Awards 2024, Powered by GIA, brings together a diverse array of jewellery pieces from around the globe. With over 600 entries spanning continents, including India, Canada, USA, Bahrain, Egypt, Dubai, and Pakistan, this year’s competition promises to showcase the best and brightest talents in the field.
Against the backdrop of the Ice Factory’s historic setting, attendees will have the opportunity to witness the final judging round, where a panel of esteemed industry experts will select the winners from among 20 captivating and well-finished jewellery pieces. The themes of ‘Unusual Materials’ and ‘Objet Trouvé’ serve as the guiding principles, challenging designers to push the boundaries of innovation and creativity.
The Artisan Jewellery Awards 2024 isn’t just a showcase of craftsmanship; it’s a convergence of minds, ideas, and perspectives. From luminaries and aesthetes in the world of arts, crafts, and design to curators, gallery owners, and patrons, the event promises to be a melting pot of creativity and inspiration.
Central to the discourse are the two exciting and unconventional themes: ‘Objet Trouvé’ (Found Objects) and ‘Unusual Materials.’ ‘Objet Trouvé’ invites participants to explore the artistic potential of everyday objects, encouraging them to reimagine and repurpose items from their past into modern works of art. Meanwhile, ‘Unusual Materials’ challenges designers to create a dialogue between the familiar and the unexpected, pushing the boundaries of traditional materials and techniques.

The esteemed jury included renowned personalities such as Alice Cicolini, a distinguished UK jewellery designer; Biren Vaidya, the Managing Director of The Rose Group; Payal Singhal, a prominent Fashion Designer; Apoorva Deshingkar, the Senior Director of Education and Market Development at GIA India; and Toktam Shekarriz, a Dubai-based jewellery designer.
Meanwhile, the technical jury comprised Devinder Layal, a respected Jewellery Artiste and educationist; Meenal Choksi, the Head of Design at Moksh Fine Unseen Jewellery; Sushama Kalzunkar Sawant, the PD & Merchandising Head at Dia Gold Creations; Janki Choksi, the Founder of Janki Choksi Designs; and Gunjan Sapra, the COO & Head of Department of Jewellery Designs at the International Institute of Gemology, who also serves as a GIA Instructor.
Alice Cicolini expressed her enthusiasm for the award process, highlighting the stimulation it provides for designers to explore unconventional materials and global trends. She commended the freedom given to young Indian designers, noting the standout pieces that displayed intriguing designs and impeccable craftsmanship.
Payal Singhal was captivated by the innovative exploration of materials and the creation of enduring pieces. Reflecting on India’s design and manufacturing talent, Singhal praised the remarkable standard showcased at the Artisan Awards. She emphasized the country’s superior capabilities in design, quality, and finishing, reinforced by the innovation displayed at the event.
