Manoj Jain, Director of Commodity and Currency in Prithvi Finmart says gold and silver showed very high volatility in the international markets. Gold prices slipped below $1900 per troy ounce in the early trading session but Credit Suisse crisis in Europe and fallout of European banks supported safe-haven buying of the gold. Gold and silver hit five-week highs during the session. Banking turmoil started last week from the U.S. spreading to Europe this week. The European banking stocks plunged lead by Credit Suisse and pushed global equity markets lower. Baking crisis in the developed world supported precious metals.
Jain of Prithvi Finmart expect gold and silver to remain volatile in today’s session ahead of the ECB policy meetings, gold and silver could hold its key support level of $1900 and $21.30 per troy respectively in today’s session. Gold has support at $1918-1900, while resistance at $1945-1958 per troy ounce. Silver has support at $21.55-21.30, while resistance is at $22.20-22.50 per troy ounce. At MCX, gold is having support at 58000-57770 and resistance at 58600-58880 and silver is having support at 66650-66000 and resistance at 68000-68850. He suggest buying silver on dips around 66800 with a stop loss of 66000 for the target of 68800 at MCX.

Jain said The dollar index was firm due to weakness in the Euro and other major global currencies but bond yields crashed once again and also supported precious metals. The U.S. economic data released on Wednesday was also lower than expected and supportive for bullions.
