The U.S. labor market showed a stronger-than-expected recovery in August, with nonfarm payrolls increasing by 162,000, significantly exceeding economists’ expectations. The unemployment rate remained unchanged at 4.1%, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

Check out the latest Gold, Silver prices in MCX, International Market, Sarafa and your city on our new website– https://goldpricetodaynews.com/

Economists surveyed by Dow Jones had expected payrolls to rise by only 53,000 in August. The latest increase marked the strongest monthly job gain since March and reversed the sharp slowdown in hiring seen during the summer.

The report indicates that the U.S. labor market remains relatively resilient, even as Federal Reserve officials continue to assess inflation, employment and economic growth before the upcoming interest-rate decision.

August Jobs Growth Beats Expectations

Nonfarm payrolls rose by a seasonally adjusted 162,000 jobs in August, more than three times the Dow Jones consensus estimate of 53,000.

The unemployment rate stayed at 4.1%, as expected. The rate has remained relatively stable over recent years and is actually 0.2 percentage point lower than it was a year ago.

Chris Rupkey, chief economist at Fwdbonds, said:

“Net, net, the labor market is alive and well and generating thousands of new jobs to help keep economic growth squarely in the plus column,”

The latest employment figures are broadly consistent with Federal Reserve officials’ characterization of the labor market as stable. Attention is now expected to shift toward the upcoming consumer and producer price reports, which could become crucial in determining the Fed’s next interest-rate move.

Markets React to Stronger Employment Data

U.S. stock market futures moved mostly lower following the employment report, while Treasury yields increased sharply. The move was particularly notable at the shorter end of the Treasury market, where yields are more sensitive to expectations for Federal Reserve policy.

The stronger-than-expected payroll figure also pushed markets toward the possibility of another interest-rate hike.

According to the CME Group’s FedWatch tool, traders were still assigning around a 60% probability of a 0.25 percentage point rate increase at the Federal Reserve’s September 15-16 policy meeting.

Ellen Zentner, chief economic strategist at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management, said:

“An upside surprise in payrolls will likely ramp up concerns about a rate hike, but that outcome is in the hands of next week’s inflation numbers,”

She added:

“If those come in cooler than expected, the Fed will likely feel comfortable discounting potentially inflationary signals coming out of the labor market.”

Trump Calls August Jobs Report a Great Number

President Donald Trump described the August employment report as a “great jobs number” and called on the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates rather than raise them.

“The Fed Board, with its great new leader, must get smart – BE PATRIOTS for a change,” Trump said in a social media post. “High interest rates put the U.S.A. at a very unfair disadvantage, and I won’t allow that to happen!”

Trump also threatened to stop trading with countries where the U.S. runs a trade deficit unless the Federal Reserve cuts interest rates.

“LOWER THE RATE OR I’LL STOP TRADING WITH COUNTRIES WITH WHICH WE HAVE A DEFICIT, which the U.S. Supreme Court, in its ridiculous and very costly Tariff decision, strongly acknowledged ‘the President’ has an absolute right to do,” Trump wrote.

The U.S. currently has a trade deficit with more than 90 countries.

Labor Force Participation Rate Also Improves

While the unemployment rate remained at 4.1%, the household survey showed significant increases in both employment and the labor force.

Employment increased by 569,000, while the number of people participating in the labor force jumped by 683,000. The labor force participation rate, which measures people who are either employed or actively looking for work, increased by 0.2 percentage point.

Another measure of unemployment, which includes discouraged workers and people working part-time for economic reasons, declined by 0.2 percentage point to 7.7%. That was its lowest level since June 2025.

Previous Months Receive Upward Revisions

The August report also came with positive revisions to earlier employment figures. July’s payroll gain was revised to 21,000 jobs, compared with the previously reported decline of 23,000 jobs. June’s figure was also revised upward to a gain of 31,000 jobs, representing an increase of 11,000 jobs from the earlier estimate.

Unlike several previous monthly reports, August’s employment gains were relatively broad-based across different sectors.

Restaurants and Government Education Lead Job Gains

Restaurants and bars recorded the biggest increase, adding 59,000 jobs during August. Government education added another 42,000 jobs, while the manufacturing sector contributed 16,000 positions.

Healthcare, which has been one of the most important sources of employment growth, added only 13,000 jobs in August. That was considerably below its average monthly gain of 32,000 jobs over the previous 12 months.

There was also some evidence of artificial intelligence-related pressure on employment. Information-related industries lost 23,000 jobs, bringing their average employment change over the past 12 months to a loss of 8,000 jobs.

Wage Growth Remains Firm

Average hourly earnings increased by 0.3% in August, matching the consensus estimate. On an annual basis, average hourly earnings increased by 3.1%, which was 0.1 percentage point higher than economists had expected.

The wage data will remain important for policymakers because sustained wage growth can influence inflation pressures and the Federal Reserve’s approach to interest rates.

Fed Rate Outlook Remains Uncertain

Expectations for the Federal Reserve’s next policy move have changed significantly in recent days. After remarks by Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh last week, traders had increasingly expected the Federal Open Market Committee to raise its benchmark interest rate by 0.25 percentage point at its September 15-16 meeting.

However, comments this week from Governor Christopher Waller and other Federal Reserve officials have made the outlook less certain.

The FOMC has not changed the federal funds rate since delivering three rate cuts during the latter part of 2025.

Federal Reserve policymakers remain particularly concerned about inflation, which has stayed above the central bank’s 2% target for the past 5½ years.

Inflation Data Now Becomes Crucial

The latest jobs report sets the stage for the next major economic releases from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Producer price data is scheduled for Thursday, followed by consumer price data on Friday. These inflation reports could play a decisive role in determining the Federal Reserve’s decision at its September meeting.

Christopher Waller has said he would support keeping rates unchanged if the upcoming data shows inflation continuing to moderate on a monthly basis.

New York Fed President John Williams said earlier this week that he remains in “wait-and-see” mode regarding the incoming economic data.

Governor Michael Barr also indicated that if inflation is “moderating,” he would be comfortable keeping interest rates unchanged.

However, both Barr and Waller have said they would be prepared to support a rate increase if the incoming economic data does not show sufficient progress on inflation.

What the August Jobs Report Means for the Fed

The August employment report has complicated the Federal Reserve’s policy outlook. Payroll growth of 162,000 was substantially stronger than the 53,000 expected by economists, while the unemployment rate remained at 4.1%.

At the same time, wage growth remains relatively firm and the labor force participation rate improved. These figures suggest that the labor market has not weakened as sharply as some recent data had indicated.

However, the Fed’s next decision will not depend on the jobs report alone. The upcoming producer and consumer inflation figures are likely to be critical in determining whether policymakers keep rates steady or consider another increase.

What Will Be the Impact on Gold and Silver Prices in India?

The stronger-than-expected U.S. August jobs report could keep gold and silver prices under pressure in India in the short term. U.S. nonfarm payrolls increased by 162,000, far above the 53,000 expected by economists, while the unemployment rate remained at 4.1%. The data has increased expectations that the Federal Reserve could raise interest rates at its September 15-16 meeting.

Strong U.S. Jobs Data May Weigh on Gold

A stronger U.S. labor market reduces the urgency for the Federal Reserve to ease monetary policy. Higher interest-rate expectations generally support the U.S. dollar and Treasury yields, while reducing the appeal of non-yielding assets such as gold. Following the jobs report, international gold prices declined, with spot gold falling more than 1% and U.S. gold futures settling lower.

For Indian investors, this could translate into near-term selling pressure on domestic gold prices, particularly if the dollar remains strong and global bullion prices continue to decline.

Silver Could Face Greater Volatility

Silver may also come under pressure because it is influenced by both investment demand and industrial demand. If expectations of higher U.S. interest rates strengthen, precious-metal sentiment could weaken further. Silver declined alongside gold after the latest U.S. employment data, highlighting its sensitivity to changes in Fed expectations.

However, silver can also respond to industrial-demand expectations, so its movement may not always mirror gold exactly.

U.S. Inflation Data Now Holds the Key

The jobs report alone may not determine the Federal Reserve’s September decision. Investors are now likely to focus heavily on the upcoming CPI and PPI inflation data. If inflation remains sticky or comes in hotter than expected, expectations of a rate hike could strengthen further, potentially putting additional pressure on gold and silver.

On the other hand, softer inflation could reduce rate-hike expectations and provide support to precious metals. Analysts have also highlighted the importance of inflation data in determining the next direction for bullion.

What Could Happen to Gold and Silver in India?

For the Indian bullion market, the immediate outlook appears volatile with a downside bias following the strong U.S. employment numbers. International prices, the dollar-rupee exchange rate, domestic demand and geopolitical developments will all influence local rates.

If the Federal Reserve moves toward higher rates, gold and silver could face further short-term pressure. However, any weakness in the dollar, softer inflation data or renewed geopolitical uncertainty could quickly bring buying interest back into precious metals.

FAQ’s

1. How many jobs did the U.S. add in August 2026?
The U.S. economy added 162,000 nonfarm jobs in August 2026, significantly exceeding the Dow Jones forecast of 53,000. It was the strongest monthly payroll increase since March.

2. What was the U.S. unemployment rate in August 2026?
The U.S. unemployment rate remained unchanged at 4.1% in August. The rate was 0.2 percentage point lower than it was a year earlier.

3. Which sectors added the most jobs in August?
Restaurants and bars led employment growth with 59,000 new jobs, followed by government education with 42,000 and manufacturing with 16,000. Healthcare added 13,000 jobs, below its 12-month monthly average of 32,000.

4. What happened to U.S. wage growth in August 2026?
Average hourly earnings increased 0.3% in August, matching expectations. On an annual basis, wages rose 3.1%, which was 0.1 percentage point higher than economists had forecast.

5. Will the August jobs report influence the Federal Reserve’s interest-rate decision?
Yes. The stronger-than-expected employment growth could increase concerns about another rate hike, but the Federal Reserve is also closely watching upcoming producer and consumer inflation data. Those reports are expected to play an important role in determining the September policy decision.

SEBI has proposed expanding vault manager regulations to cover physical gold, silver and other precious metals backing ETFs, bullion derivatives, EGRs and other regulated products. The proposed framework aims to standardise vaulting, insurance, purity checks, cybersecurity, audits and risk management while improving supervision and investor protection. Public comments are invited until September 1.

India’s markets regulator, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), has proposed widening the existing regulatory framework for vault managers to include physical bullion backing a broader range of SEBI-regulated products. The proposal covers gold and silver ETFs, bullion derivatives and other bullion-related instruments specified by the regulator.

Check out the latest Gold, Silver prices in MCX, International Market, Sarafa and your city on our new website– https://goldpricetodaynews.com/

The proposal forms part of SEBI’s review and expansion of the SEBI (Vault Managers) Regulations, 2021. The objective is to create a harmonised vaulting framework covering physical gold, silver and other precious metals held as underlying assets for regulated financial products.

Under the proposed framework, vault managers would be responsible for bullion linked to Electronic Gold Receipts (EGRs), bullion ETFs, bullion derivatives and any other bullion-related instruments notified by SEBI.

At present, the vault manager framework mainly applies to physical gold backing EGRs traded on recognised stock exchanges. Vault managers receive, store and safeguard the physical gold and support the creation and extinguishment of EGRs.

The 2021 regulations already establish requirements covering registration, governance, net worth, risk management, internal controls, insurance, record keeping, reconciliation, audits, grievance redressal and business continuity. SEBI now wants to extend these safeguards to a wider set of financial products involving physical precious metals.

Why SEBI Wants Common Vaulting Rules

SEBI said the existing framework provides a strong foundation that can be expanded to cover additional products requiring secure custody of physical bullion.

“Given the rapid growth of physically backed precious metal products and the increasing concentration of investor assets in a limited number of vaults, extending the Vault Manager regulatory framework to cover storage of gold, silver and other precious metals underlying ETFs and derivatives on such bullion would mitigate operational risks, ensure regulatory consistency across similar custody activities and strengthen investor protection in the Indian securities market,” SEBI said.

The regulator has therefore proposed “a harmonised vaulting regime applicable to all physical bullion, including gold, silver and such precious metals, which are the underlying of Sebi-regulated products and are held pursuant to Sebi regulatory requirements”.

The proposed regime would introduce consistent requirements for vault infrastructure, governance, eligibility, operational controls, purity verification, insurance, cybersecurity, business continuity, auditing, inspection, record maintenance and risk management.

According to SEBI, common standards would also make regulatory supervision more effective and provide greater confidence to investors holding bullion through regulated financial products.

“It would also facilitate effective supervision by Sebi, and enhance investor confidence by ensuring that all investor-owned bullion held for Sebi-regulated products are subject to a common and robust regulatory framework, irrespective of the product through which such exposure is obtained,” it said.

Gold and Silver Markets Have Expanded

SEBI noted that India’s bullion market has undergone substantial changes with the expansion of products such as gold ETFs, silver ETFs and bullion-backed derivatives.

India remains one of the world’s largest gold-consuming markets, while electronic gold products have expanded as investors increasingly look for alternatives to directly holding physical bullion. The proposed changes are intended to ensure that the physical metal supporting these financial products is governed by consistent custody standards.

The consultation paper also proposes a circular outlining the framework for EGRs and operational guidelines for vaulting services covering bullion-related instruments specified by SEBI.

Public Comments Invited Until September 1

SEBI has invited stakeholders and members of the public to submit comments on the consultation paper and proposed regulatory changes until September 1.

If implemented, the expanded framework would bring physical bullion held against different SEBI-regulated products under a common set of standards, potentially strengthening operational safeguards, transparency and investor protection across India’s growing bullion market.

FAQs

1. What has SEBI proposed for gold and silver vaults?

SEBI has proposed expanding the existing Vault Managers Regulations, 2021, so they cover physical gold, silver and other precious metals underlying a wider range of SEBI-regulated products, including ETFs and bullion derivatives.

2. Which products could come under the expanded vaulting framework?

The proposed framework would cover physical bullion backing Electronic Gold Receipts, bullion ETFs, bullion derivatives and any other bullion-related instruments that SEBI may specify.

3. What is the current role of vault managers under SEBI rules?

Under the existing framework, vault managers primarily store and safeguard physical gold underlying EGRs traded on recognised stock exchanges. They also facilitate the creation and extinguishment of EGRs.

4. Why does SEBI want a harmonised vaulting regime?

SEBI believes common standards could reduce operational risks and create consistency in areas such as vault infrastructure, purity verification, insurance, cybersecurity, audits, record keeping and risk management. The framework is also intended to strengthen investor protection and confidence.

5. Until when can stakeholders submit comments on SEBI’s proposal?

SEBI has invited public comments on the consultation paper and proposed changes until September 1, 2026. Stakeholders can provide feedback before the regulator considers further action on the proposed framework.

US CPI Inflation Report: U.S. consumer prices increased modestly in July, with headline inflation rising 0.1% month-on-month, in line with market expectations. The latest data suggests that inflation pressures may be cooling, potentially reducing the urgency for the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates at its September policy meeting.

Check out the latest Gold, Silver prices in MCX, International Market, Sarafa and your city on our new website– https://goldpricetodaynews.com/

According to the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the headline CPI increased 0.1% in July on a seasonally adjusted basis.

Core CPI, which excludes food and energy prices, increased 0.2% during the month. Both readings matched the consensus forecasts.

U.S. Annual Inflation Rate Falls to 3.4%

On an annual basis, headline CPI inflation stood at 3.4% in July, down from 3.5% in June. Core inflation also moderated, declining to 2.5% from 2.6% in June.

Although both measures remain above the Federal Reserve’s 2% inflation target, the moderate monthly increases indicate that the inflation surge seen earlier in the year may be losing some momentum.

The latest data also follows a similarly subdued inflation reading in June, strengthening expectations that price pressures may be gradually stabilising.

July CPI Reduces Expectations for Immediate Fed Rate Hike

The latest inflation report has reduced expectations for an imminent Federal Reserve interest-rate increase. Markets had previously been assigning a relatively high probability to a rate hike at the September Federal Open Market Committee meeting. However, weaker labour-market data and moderating inflation have changed that outlook.

Following the CPI release, traders reduced the probability of a September rate hike to around 42%, according to the CME Group’s FedWatch gauge.

Markets are now increasingly looking toward a potential rate move later in the year, particularly in October or December.

Energy Prices Fall 1.5% in July

Energy prices provided an important offset to other components of the inflation report. The energy index declined 1.5% in July, following a 5.7% monthly drop in June.

However, energy prices remained significantly higher compared with a year earlier, with the category showing a 14.7% annual increase.

The sharp increase in energy costs earlier in the year had contributed significantly to inflation pressures. The latest monthly declines suggest that some of that pressure is now easing, although geopolitical developments remain a potential source of volatility.

Shelter Remains a Major Inflation Driver

Shelter costs continued to play a significant role in keeping inflation elevated. The shelter index increased 0.1% in July, with the category accounting for approximately two-thirds of the overall monthly increase in headline CPI, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The measure tracking what property owners could potentially receive in rent increased 0.3%.

However, the overall shelter increase was partly offset by a sharp 2.8% decline in lodging-away-from-home costs.

Shelter remains one of the most closely watched components of the inflation report because persistent increases in housing-related costs have contributed to inflation remaining above the Federal Reserve’s target.

Food Prices Also Increase 0.1%

Food prices rose 0.1% in July, matching the increase recorded in the shelter category. While the monthly increase was relatively modest, food prices remain an important consideration for consumers and policymakers because persistent gains can influence broader inflation expectations.

The latest CPI report therefore presents a mixed picture, with some categories showing limited price increases while energy prices continued to decline.

Used Cars, Medical Care and Airfares Rise

Several other categories recorded notable increases during July. New vehicle prices increased 0.1%, while prices for used cars and trucks climbed 0.4%. Medical care costs increased 0.4%, adding to inflation pressure in the services sector.

Airfares recorded a more substantial increase, rising 2.2% during the month. These increases show that inflation remains uneven across different parts of the U.S. economy even as the overall monthly CPI increase remained relatively mild.

Fed Has More Inflation Data Before September Meeting

The Federal Reserve will have additional economic data to assess before its next policy meeting in September. The Federal Open Market Committee does not meet again until September, giving policymakers another month of inflation and labour-market data before making their next interest-rate decision.

The latest CPI report therefore does not completely remove the possibility of a September rate hike, but it makes an immediate move less urgent.

Labour Market Weakness Also Changes Rate Outlook

The inflation report comes shortly after renewed concerns about the U.S. labour market. A net decline in employment during July, combined with the recent moderation in inflation and changes in energy prices, has reduced the pressure on the Fed to tighten monetary policy immediately.

At its July meeting, the FOMC voted 9-3 to keep the benchmark interest rate unchanged. The three dissenting policymakers favoured a rate increase.

The latest economic data, however, has shifted market expectations toward a more cautious approach.

Markets Expect Greater Chance of Fed Move Later in 2026

With the September rate hike increasingly uncertain, investors are now assigning greater importance to the October and December policy meetings.

The Fed’s decision will depend on how inflation, employment, consumer spending and other economic indicators develop over the coming weeks.

The July CPI data provides some relief to markets because it did not show a fresh acceleration in consumer prices. However, inflation remains above the Fed’s target, meaning policymakers are unlikely to declare victory yet.

What July CPI Means for Gold Prices

The softer-than-feared inflation data could also have implications for gold prices. Moderating inflation can reduce expectations for aggressive monetary tightening, while lower Treasury yields and a weaker U.S. dollar can provide additional support to gold.

For precious-metals investors, the next key focus will therefore remain on Federal Reserve expectations, Treasury yields, the U.S. dollar and upcoming U.S. economic data.

If inflation continues to moderate and the Fed adopts a less hawkish stance, the environment could remain supportive for gold. However, a renewed rise in inflation could quickly change market expectations.

FAQs

1. What was the U.S. CPI inflation rate in July 2026?

The U.S. Consumer Price Index increased 0.1% month-on-month in July 2026, matching market expectations. On an annual basis, headline inflation eased to 3.4% from 3.5% in June. Core CPI, which excludes food and energy, increased 0.2% during the month, with annual core inflation falling to 2.5%.

2. How did the July CPI report affect expectations for a September Fed rate hike?

The July CPI report reduced expectations for an immediate Federal Reserve rate increase because inflation remained relatively moderate. After the data was released, the market-implied probability of a September rate hike fell to around 42%. Investors are increasingly considering October or December as more likely windows for a potential rate move.

3. Which parts of the U.S. economy contributed most to July inflation?

Shelter remained one of the biggest contributors to July’s inflation increase, accounting for roughly two-thirds of the monthly rise in headline CPI. Food and shelter prices each increased 0.1%, while medical care rose 0.4%, used vehicles increased 0.4% and airline fares jumped 2.2%. Falling energy prices helped offset some of these increases.

4. Why is the July CPI report important for the Federal Reserve?

The CPI report is an important indicator of consumer price pressures and therefore plays a major role in Federal Reserve policy decisions. Although inflation remains above the Fed’s 2% target, the moderate July increase reduces the urgency for additional tightening. Policymakers will also consider upcoming employment and inflation data before the September meeting.

5. What could the July CPI data mean for gold prices?

Moderating U.S. inflation could be supportive for gold if it leads markets to expect a less restrictive Federal Reserve policy. Lower rate expectations can put downward pressure on Treasury yields and the U.S. dollar, both of which can benefit gold. However, a renewed acceleration in inflation could reverse this trend by increasing expectations for tighter monetary policy.

FAQs

1. Why did gold prices remain unchanged today?
Gold prices stayed stable due to balanced demand and supply in the domestic market. There were no major global triggers or currency fluctuations impacting gold rates, which helped maintain price stability compared to the previous trading session.

2. What caused the fall in silver prices?
Silver prices declined mainly due to weak global cues, profit booking, and reduced industrial demand expectations. Since silver is both a precious and industrial metal, any slowdown in industrial outlook tends to impact its price more sharply than gold.

3. What is the current gold price in India?
As of March 26, 2026, the benchmark gold price (99.5% purity) stands at Rs 1,49,500 per 10 grams, with no change observed across other purity segments like 22K, 18K, and 14K gold.

4. How are gold prices different across cities?
Gold prices vary slightly across cities due to factors like local taxes, transportation costs, and demand-supply conditions. However, the overall trend remains similar nationwide, with only minor price differences between major cities.

5. Should investors buy gold or silver right now?
Investors may consider gold for stability and long-term safety, while silver can offer higher volatility and potential returns. The choice depends on risk appetite, investment horizon, and market outlook, especially amid current mixed trends in the bullion market.

Gold Price Today: Global markets are heading into a pivotal week as several key economic data releases and major central bank policy decisions are set to influence the short-term direction of financial markets. At the same time, rate decisions from five central banks is also in the upcoming week. With several high-impact events and geopolitical developments unfolding, market volatility may rise—and against this backdrop, experts have shared their outlook for gold and silver prices in the coming week.

For Expert Views on Gold and Silver Prices, Watch Our Youtube Channel- (1.81 Lakh Subscribers, 30 Million Views)

GOLD SILVER PRICE WEEKLY FORECAST
Enrich Money View for the Week for COMEX Gold:
“COMEX Gold has undergone a sharp corrective move after retesting its previous record-high resistance zone of $5,300– $5,500, and is currently trading in the $4,450–$4,520 range. The decline is primarily attributed to dollar strength and profit booking pressure, even as geopolitical uncertainties continue to provide underlying support

On the downside, immediate support is placed in the $4,250–$4,400 zone; a decisive breakdown below this range could open the door for a deeper correction toward $3,800–$4,000. In the near term, momentum remains neutral to slightly bearish, although the broader structure continues to reflect higher lows, indicating underlying strength.

Sustaining above the $4,400 level remains critical for a potential recovery toward $4,700–$4,800. Overall, the broader bullish bias remains intact unless key support levels are decisively breached, with macro economic factors continuing to influence price direction.“

Enrich Money View for the Week for MCX Gold:
“MCX Gold has come under meaningful corrective pressure, declining sharply from its earlier highs in the ₹1,55,000–₹1,60,000 range and currently trading around ₹1,40,000–₹1,45,000, influenced by global bullion weakness and currency movements. The decline primarily reflects profit-booking following the earlier safe-haven rally driven by geopolitical tensions, with prices now approaching lower support levels after a sustained multi-week uptrend.

The ₹1,35,000–₹1,40,000 region is emerging as a key demand zone, where buying interest is visible, helping to maintain the broader higher-low structure. In the near term, momentum indicators point toward a neutral to slightly bearish bias, suggesting consolidation rather than a confirmed reversal.

Holding above ₹1,42,000 remains important for a potential recovery toward ₹1,50,000– ₹1,52,000, with further upside extending toward ₹1,55,000–₹1,60,000 if fresh triggers emerge.

However, a decisive break below the ₹1,42,000–₹1,45,000 zone could increase downside pressure, dragging prices toward ₹1,40,000 and potentially ₹1,35,000. despite the recent corrections, the broader bullish outlook remains intact unless key structural supports are violated, with macroeconomic and geopolitical factors continuing to provide underlying support.“

Enrich Money View for the Week for COMEX Silver:
“COMEX Silver continues to trade within a subdued range of $62–$70 after a sharp correction from its earlier highs near the $93–$97resistance zone, with the decline largely driven by profit-booking and a stronger US dollar.

On the downside, the $60–$65 zone acts as a critical demand base; a decisive breakdown below this region could accelerate weakness toward $50 or lower levels.

On the upside, a sustained hold above this support may trigger a recovery toward $75–$80, with extended gains potentially reaching $85–$90.

Overall, the broader bullish bias remains intact, supported by a balance between safe-haven demand and industrial demand. However, this outlook would weaken if there is a decisive break below the key $60–$65 support zone, while geopolitical developments and macroeconomic factors are expected to continue influencing price direction.“

Enrich Money View for the Week for MCX Silver:
“MCX Silver has seen a sharp corrective decline, retreating significantly from its earlier highs and currently trading in the ₹2,20,000–₹2,30,000 range amid heavy profit-booking and corresponding weakness in global silver prices. The recent move suggests a phase of stabilization after a strong impulsive rally, with prices consolidating between near-term support and overhead resistance levels.

Earlier shallow corrections had indicated dip accumulation; however, the current pressure is testing the ₹2,20,000–₹2,15,000 demand zone. A failure to hold this zone could expose prices to a deeper correction toward ₹2,00,000 or even ₹1,80,000. In the near term, momentum reflects a slightly bearish bias, indicating consolidation rather than a clear reversal.

Sustaining above ₹2,15,000 may support a recovery toward ₹2,40,000, followed by ₹2,50,000, with further upside possible if buying strength improves. The broader bullish trend remains intact unless key supports near ₹2,00,000 are decisively broken, while macroeconomic tail winds continue to support the market”

America and Iran War Continues
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said that the U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran are aimed at dismantling its defensive positions along the Strait of Hormuz. He further stated that President Donald Trump is ready to take all necessary steps to achieve U.S. objectives, including neutralizing Iran’s air force and navy and stopping it from obtaining nuclear weapons. Bessent also admitted that prices could rise in the short term, but said the cost would be worth it, arguing that they would eventually stabilize in return for decades without the threat of a nuclear-armed Iran.

Iran has warned that it would retaliate by targeting energy and water infrastructure across the Gulf if U.S. President Donald Trump follows through on his threat to strike its electricity grid, heightening fears of major disruption in a region that depends heavily on desalination for drinking water.

GOLD PRICE TODAY: EXPERT OPINION OF THE DAY
Manoj Kumar Jain, Director Prithvi Finmart, a senior financial market expert, said:
“Gold and silver prices crashed vertically last week after the U.S. Fed maintained status-quo on interest rates and also show uncertainty on the future rate cuts amid ongoing war in the West Asia. Higher crude oil prices increased global inflation worries and it could last for longer and change stance of global central banks to hawkish in the upcoming months.

The dollar index surged and global bond yields also rises due to safe-haven buying and crash in the global equity markets. Gold prices see biggest weekly fall in 43 years and fall more than 10% last week. Gold prices closed below $4,500 in the spot markets on Friday. We are experiencing very high price volatility in both precious metals and silver prices could face steep resistance around $80.00 per troy ounce and gold prices could also face resistance around $4,840 per troy ounce in the short-term.”

Manoj Kumar Jain View for Today (For Gold and Silver) | 23/03/2026
“We expect gold and silver prices to remain volatile in today’s session amid volatility in the dollar index and crude oil prices and US-Iran war. Gold has support at $4505-4440 while resistance at $4600-4664 per troy ounce and silver has support at $64.00-60.00, while resistance is at $72.40-76.00 per troy ounce in today’s session.

At MCX, gold is having support at 142200-139100 and resistance at 146000-147700 while silver is having support at 218000-210000 and resistance at 232000-237700.

We suggest traders must wait for some stability in the precious metals markets for initiating fresh positions while small investors continue their accumulation in SIP mode in the present market breakdown”

SMC Global View for Today (For Gold and Silver) | 23/03/2026:
“Markets have now pushed expectations for Fed rate cuts further out to 2027, while also pricing in potential rate hikes from the ECB and BOE this year.

From a technical perspective, COMEX gold is expected to find support near $4,280 and resistance around $4,780, with a bearish bias in the near term. Silver is likely to trade within a range of 62–78.

In the domestic market, gold may trade between ₹131,000–₹150,000, while silver could range between ₹208,000–₹247,000. Overall, selling pressure is expected to persist in both metals”

FAQs
1. Why did gold and silver prices fall sharply on 23 March 2026?
Gold and silver prices declined due to a mix of strong dollar index movement, rising global bond yields, inflation concerns linked to higher crude oil prices, and uncertainty over future interest rate cuts after the U.S. Fed kept rates unchanged.

2. How much did MCX gold and silver fall today?
MCX gold for April futures opened 3% lower at ₹1,40,158 per 10 grams and later touched ₹1,36,403, down ₹8,089 or 5.59%. MCX silver for May futures opened 4% lower at ₹2,17,702 per kg and hit the lower circuit at ₹2,13,166, down ₹13,606 or 6%.

3. What happened to gold and silver prices on COMEX?
COMEX gold fell 3% to $4,462 per ounce, extending losses after an almost 11% fall last week, its biggest weekly drop since 1983. COMEX silver also dropped 3% to $67.5 per ounce.

4. What are experts saying about gold and silver prices now?
Experts believe both metals may remain highly volatile due to fluctuations in the dollar index, crude oil prices, and geopolitical tensions. Selling pressure is expected to continue, though small investors may keep accumulating gradually through SIP mode.

5. What are the key support and resistance levels for gold and silver today?
According to Manoj Kumar Jain, gold has support at $4505–4440 and resistance at $4600–4664, while silver has support at $64–60 and resistance at $72.40–76 on COMEX. On MCX, gold support is seen at ₹1,42,200–₹1,39,100 and resistance at ₹1,46,000–₹1,47,700, while silver support is at ₹2,18,000–₹2,10,000 and resistance at ₹2,32,000–₹2,37,700.
