Both the precious metals were also settled on a positive note in the domestic markets. Gold April futures contract were settled at 48429 per 10 gram with a gain of 0.42% and silver March futures contract were settled at 62367 per one kilogram with a gain of 0.54%. Gold and silver extended its gain in the international markets on Tuesday after downbeat U.S. economic data.
The U.S. NFIB small business index showed a reading of 97.1 against previous months reading of 98.9, trade deficit rose to $80.7 billion from $80.2 billion and IBD/TIPP economic optimism reading shows 44.0 against expected reading of 47.2. Downbeat U.S. economic data supported both precious metals. Gold and silver also gained amid bargain buying and short coverings.
Manoj Jain, Director of Prithvi Finmart says the U.S. equity markets were mixed ahead of the inflation report and worried from the aggressive rate hikes by the U.S. Federal Reserve, historically interest rate hike and higher inflations are negative for equity markets and positive for precious metals. We expect both precious metals remain volatile in today’s session, if gold crossed $1833 per troy ounce could test $1845 per troy ounce levels and if silver crossed $23.30 per troy ounce could also test $23.70 per troy ounce levels.

Jain said Gold is having support at $1818-1810 per troy ounce and resistance at $1834-1845 per troy ounce while silver is having support at $23.00-22.70 per troy ounce and resistance at $23.40-23.70 per troy ounce.
According to Jain at mcx, gold is having support at 48300-48100 and resistance at 48580-48700 and silver is having support at 62000-61660 and resistance at 62750-63100. We suggest buying gold on dips around 48250 with a stop loss of 48055 for the target of 48600 and silver around 62000 with a stop loss of 61660 on a closing basis for the target of 63000.
